artist statement

My day to day life is the primary mode of inspiration behind my art practice. Whatever I see and experience in my everyday life becomes the subject of my work. Travelling, the change and shift in spaces and the changing of time itself creates memories that affect me and form the basic layers of my artistic practice. The print making process involves colour layering that gives importance to the whole work, where each and every layer of colour has its own purpose. When the final print is done it is not just a single image but a combination of different situations in the form of colours.

My depictions function across multiple layers, the way incidents in our life become layered over time and leave its impressions. I overlap images and juxtapose them to bring out this effect, and while it is much harder to actualise this in prints, I love the challenge. I connect to incidents and occurrences, the consequences of which have left an impact on my thought processes. I like to draw myself out and as a result my work becomes a place to sort myself and deal with my surroundings. The constant mental exercise enhances my imagination and creation. In this way, what affects me the most become images and come together in these works; because that is the subject that I understand the best. While my work takes from the personal, at the same time it is not isolated. I feel that relations can be drawn from it and experiences can be shared. Due to my art practice, exploration and experience is a never ending process.
