Suddhasattwa Basu, a painter, illustrator and animation filmmaker is visiting faculty at the College of Art, Delhi since 1998. He has been teaching illustration and Classical Cel Animation in MFA, Applied Art. He is visiting faculty at NID, Ahmedabad. At NID he teaches classical animation. Mr. Basu is also guest faculty at Roop Kala Kendro, Kolkata since 2003. Basu studied Fine Art (Painting, Graphics and Mural) at Govt. College of Art and Craft, Kolkata. His academic foundation and natural talent for painting find its own way in visual depictions of printed text. He, until 2014, has designed and illustrated more than 60 children's books. Amongst that Nature Watch - by Khushwant Singh, To Live in Magic - by Ruskin Bond, The Homecoming - by Vijaya Sulaiman, The Story of Garuda - by Roberto Calasso, Mahabharat - by Namita Gokhle, Delhi Through the Seasons - by Khushwant Singh, are few to be mentioned. His painterly and thought provoking images, in contrast to the conventional humorous approach, for The Economic Times (Editorial Page, 1990, 5 days a week) and Business Today (News front, 1992 to 96, fortnightly) are trend setting examples in print media.

The Song of a Scarecrow, a book for children, authored and illustrated by Mr. Basu is published on February 2003 by KATHA, got the Chitrakatha award 2003 for best children book illustrations and received Honorable mention at BIB 2003, Bratislava, Slovak Republic. Other books for children he authored and illustrated are Whatever you give, and Ravan Remedy, both published by NBT.

Suddhasattwa Basu lives and works in Delhi.
