Artist Statement

Relief sculptures carved from wood constitute my latest body of work titled "Studies for a Temple". It is about understanding and experiencing the very logic of nature in terms of human existence. It relooks at the history of mankind in terms of toil and produce. The title emphasizes on the fact that the temple is at the focal point of physical and intellectual ability of a group or a whole race, thus reflecting a collective benevolence. Here my attempt is to revisit such obvious and identifiable forms from nature with an intense curiosity to create a space for reflective and speculative dialogue with the viewers.
