Arti Vijay Kadam

Arti V. Kadam (b. 1980, Mumbai, India) is a sculptor based in Vadodara, Gujarat. She holds a Post Diploma in Creative Sculpture from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (2016) and a Diploma in Sculpture and Modeling from Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai (2003).

Working primarily in stone and wood, Kadam’s sculptural practice investigates the syntax of form, surface, and volume through an engagement with everyday objects and tools. Her approach draws on observational drawing and classical sculpting techniques, translating utilitarian shapes into reconfigured compositions that examine material culture, memory, and the poetics of function. Her works foreground tactile processes—carving, joining, finishing—as a way of thinking through how objects are embedded in domestic, cultural, and ritual vocabularies.

Kadam has participated in workshops and symposiums across India, including the Ahalia International Sculpture Symposium (Kerala), and camps organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi and the West Zone Cultural Centre. She received the Research Scholarship from Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 2008. Her recent exhibitions include House of Objects, Gallery White, Vadodara (2023); Where Rubies Are Hidden, Rukshaan Art, Mumbai (2019); and Within and Without, Nazar Art Gallery, Vadodara (2016), among others.
