In the Series of
Works “Funambulist : Story of A Dynamic Equilibrium” Abhishek is generating
a situational storytelling which is narrative of present times and takes shape
in response as comments on our faiths and beliefs, gratification of physical
desires, atrocities, flaws in the governance, socio-political conditionings and
the conflicts while living in the contemporary culture with a pinch of humour
and absurdity. While the image itself depicts a lot, using textual signs and
symbols in these works creates new associations beyond the initial impact of
the imagery. It gives a direction of thought, either amplifying one’s
impressions, or forcing a reroute. In our absurdist reality, the protagonist
here is trying to find a cognitive space, a fine balance, metaphysical control
of emptiness and solitude and keeping himself busy and trying to find the
precision and dynamic equilibrium as a lifestyle, courage, perfection and
seamless adaptation capacity. Abhishek’s art is very much reflective of his own
influences and everyday conditions; conditions that make up the existence of
the characters he depicts. It becomes there hope and anxiety, their escape and
frustration. The various selves are in a constant fixation with Eros and
Thanatos and showing the take on how to feel comfortable even in a situation
that you need to consider critical and dangerous.
