The works draw the viewer into a game of visual and verbal codes, their interplay enlivened with diacritics, word balloons and baubles that add zing to the game. We are led to chase her mind games created from the smallest of things- memories of things unfinished, conservations, journeys, small unfulfilled wishes, the minutiae of life and living. Amritah groups her works into series so that a quasi narrative emerges within them. The drama intensifies through a relay of abstraction and figuration, surface and depth, light and shadow, blank and marked surface, word and picture.
