Chinni Krishna (b. 2000) holds a BFA and MFA in Painting from the Department of Fine Arts, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Krishna’s practice explores the shared physical language of rural labour and urban migration. Rooted in observations of agricultural communities, and the changing landscapes of labour, Krishna’s work reflects on the unseen processes that sustain everyday life. Through oil and acrylic painting, he employs a realistic visual language to depict moments of endurance, transition, quiet resilience, and brief moments of pause and rest from workers within demanding environments. Light and shadow play a significant role in his practice, becoming metaphors for the physical realities of labour. The intensity of sunlight embodies exposure and effort, while moments of shade suggest relief, pause, and human presence within these conditions. Krishna’s practice investigates the connections between rural origins and urban transformations, focusing on the movement of people, labour, and identity across changing landscapes, and the continuity of villages in cities. Through his paintings, he examines the often unnoticed relationships between agricultural and urban labour, drawing attention to the continuity of work that underpins everyday life. His selected exhibitions include: Anatomy of a Landscape (Akara Contemporary, Mumbai, 2026), in collaboration with Space Studio, Vadodara, A.U. Kala Centennial Saga, (A.U. Convention Centre, Visakhapatnam, 2026), and 1×1×9 Third Edition (Vis-à-Vis Studio, Faculty Exhibition Hall, Vadodara, 2025), First Take 2025 (Abir India, Ahmedabad, 2025). He has recently completed a residency at Space Studio, Vadodara in 2026.
