Aisha Khalid

Aisha Khalid is one of the most prominent contemporary artists today. She completed her Undergraduate studies with a specialization in miniature painting from the National College of Arts in 1997. She went on to complete her Post-Graduation at the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam, Netherlands, where she was the recipient of their International residency program. Aisha’s work deals with socio-political issues, in a language that is contemporary yet rooted in tradition. She also uses video, textiles, embroidery and paint, amongst other media, to bring her ideas into visual reality.

 

Aisha has participated in solo and group exhibitions with a number of prestigious organizations within her home country as well as abroad. Amongst the more prominent of her shows is the work at National Art Gallery PNCA, Islamabad, Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art at QAGOMA, Australia, National Art Gallery/ Museum Copenhagen, Denmark, Pao Galleries, Hong Kong, Kabul, Afghanistan, in London the V&A Museum, the Corvi-Mora Gallery, Asia House and the Royal Academy, The Chawkandi and, the Mohata Palace Museum, Zahoor-ul-Akhlaq Gallery, NCA , National Art Gallery as well as the Fukuoka Museum, Japan, The Institute du Monde Arabe, Paris, France, IFA Gallery, Berlin, Germany, Casa Arabe, Madrid, Spain, University Museum & Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Belvedere, Vienna, Austria, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, Ridgefield, CT, and the Pacific Asia Museum, Pasadena, USA have all featured Aisha’s work. She has also exhibited in Morocco, New Delhi, Dubai, Sharjah, New York, Sydney and Finland.
