Arslan Farooqi (b. 1992, Faisalabad, Pakistan) is a contemporary artist, designer and animator based in Lahore. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National College of Arts Lahore in Pakistan in 2016, where he specialised in the traditional discipline of Indo-Persian miniature painting. He works across various mediums spanning drawing, painting, sculpture, animation, large-scale installation and video. His approach to the miniature is rather unique and outside of sparking immediate interest, is engaging, entertaining, intelligent, and progressive. He uses consciousness as a main element in his visual philosophy. In most of his visuals, birds represent the dynamics of a community, its hierarchies and the way the system works. Arslan was part of the 4th Residency, Sanat Initiative (Karachi, 2017) and Attic Studio, Alhamra Art Council (Lahore, 2014). His selected group exhibitions include Off Margins: Miniatures in the Postmodern, curated by Khushboo Jain, Art and Charlie, (Mumbai, 2024), The Figure of Sound, a group exhibition curated by Preeti Bahadur, Shridharani Gallery, (New Delhi, 2023), Spiralling into the Absurd, Anant Art (New Delhi, 2021), among others.
