I See You: Photographs by Artur Żurawski

21 - 29 August 2026

To see someone is more than to look at them.

It is to acknowledge their presence, their individuality, and the story they carry with them. Every portrait begins with that simple act of recognition.

The photographs in this exhibition were created during the production of my films in different countries. They celebrate the people whose stories are woven into my own artistic practice and whose lives briefly intersected with mine. They portray the people I met and worked with along the way—directors, actors, crew members and local collaborators. Though they come from different places and backgrounds, together they form a collective portrait of collaboration—of the invisible community behind every finished work.

Filmmaking is sustained by human relationships. Every production is a temporary community, brought together by a common purpose. For a moment, people from different cultures, professions, and backgrounds share the same challenges, and the same goal to create something meaningful. These photographs are traces of those encounters.

Working in black and white removes the distractions of colour, allowing attention to settle on what is essential: light, expression, texture, and gaze.

The title, I SEE YOU, carries a simple but profound meaning. It is not merely a statement of vision. It is an acknowledgment. It says: I recognize you. I am present with you. You are not passing unnoticed.

These portraits are my way of preserving those moments of connection. They are a tribute to the people whose work, generosity, trust, and presence shaped the films I worked on, and, in many ways, shaped me as well.

Before every story reaches the screen, there are countless lives that make it possible.

This exhibition is dedicated to them.
